1st day: ARRIVAL
Arrival of the group in Venice, accommodation, dinner and overnight in hotel.
2nd day: VENICE
After breakfast, visit of the city on the lagoon with St. Mark's square surrounded by the Procuratie Vecchie and Nuove, St. Mark's Basilica with the Pala d'Oro, Doge's Palace with the Bridge of Sighs. In the afternoon a walk towards Rialto bridge as far as the Cannaregio district (from Latin "canaruum") with the Jweish ghetto, passing through San Polo district, famous for its typical Venetian cuisine. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
3rd day: FLORENCE
After breakfast, departure to Florence for a visit of the city with the Gothic S. Croce church, the pantheon of Italy’s great men (Michelangelo, Machiavelli, Galileo, Rossini and Foscolo are buried here), and to Ponte Vecchio (dating back to 1345) with its traditional goldsmiths’ shops. Then to Piazza della Signoria, which was the centre of the Florentine life and the scene of quarrels, celebrations and civil strifes, dominated by the high tower of Palazzo della Signoria, called also Palazzo Vecchio. Then visit of Piazza del Duomo with the octagonal Baptistery and its splendid bronze doors by Andrea Pisano and Lorenzo Ghiberti, the doorbell by Andrea Pisano and Giotto and the Cathedral S. Maria del Fiore crowned by Brunelleschi’s dome. Accommodation in hotel, dinner and overnight.
4th day: SIENA/SAN GIMIGNANO
After breakfast, departure to Siena, famous for its Palio taking place every year on the main square Piazza del Campo. Visit of S. Domenico’s basilica, an imposing Gothic building built by the Dominican between 1226 and 1262 where it is possible to admire the chapel with the relic of S. Caterina da Siena. Then further on along the main street, Via Banchi di Sopra, till Piazza Salimbeni, where the historical seat of the Monte dei Paschi di Siena lies. In the afternoon continuation to San Gimignano, famous for its 14 towers. Walking along the main street to towers medieval town and visit of Piazza della Cisterna, Piazza della Collegiata with the Roman church Collegiata and Palazzo del Popolo as far as the Fortezza Medicea, from which it is possible to enjoy wonderful sights.
5th day: PISA/LUCCA
After breakfast, departure to Pisa. Visit of Piazza del Duomo, well known as “Piazza dei Miracoli”, where you can admire the Santa Maria Maggiore Cathedral, the Baptistery and the Cemetery, symbolically the three fundamental moments in men’s life: Birth (Baptistery), Life (Cathedral) and Death (Cemetery). In the afternoon continuation to Lucca for a walking from Piazza S. Michele in Foro, centre of the town life with the Romanic Church, one of the most typical examples of the Pisan-Luccan architecture, to S. Martino Dom, the National Pinacoteca, the characteristic medieval streets Via degli Antiquari and Via Fillungo, Piazza del Mercato and walk on the beautiful walls of the town dating back to the XVI century. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
6th day: ASSISI/SORRENTINE PENINSULA
After breakfast, departure to Assisi for a visit of St. Francis' birthplace. Then continuation towards the Sorrentine Peninsula, accommodation, dinner and overnight.
7th day: ANACAPRI/CAPRI
After breakfast, departure to the island of Capri. Upon arrival on the island, transfer by minubus to Anacapri, where it is possible to visit the famous Villa of the Swedish doctor and writer Axel Munthe in Anacapri where clients can admire various archaeological founds, dating back to the Roman Age, which were founded on the island. Then continuation to the centre of Capri, very chic town with shops, hotels and restaurants lying along winding streets. The main square Piazza Umberto I, the so-called “Piazzetta”, has a pretty white church and several open-air cafés. Leading off the square there are Medieval looking alleyways and arcades full of shops selling the handicrafts of the island, clothing, jewels made from coral and gold, shoes and ceramics. Walking along Via Camerelle as far as the Belvedere of Punta Tragara it is possible to see the colourful Augutus' gardens overlooking the famous Faraglioni Rocks and Marina Piccola, where Gracie Fields once lived. Late in the afternoon departure to Sorrento, dinner and overnight in hotel.
8th day: POMPEII/VESUVIUS
After breakfast, departure to Rome. On the way to Rome stop for visit at Pompeii ruins. Pompeii holds an intense fascination for visitors today. Because of the eruption of the Volcano Mount Vesuvius in the year 79 A.D., Pompeii lay buried and forgotten for hundreds of years. The town is high on the list of Wonders of the World and the excavations begun in the 18th century are still being carried out today. Walking through the ancient streets of Pompeii it is possible to see Baths, Forums and Villas built by the prosperous Romans in the year 80 B.C., adorned by fabolous frescoes. Later continuation to the Vesuvius, one of the most famous and most studied volcanoes in the world with possibility to reach the crater with an Alpin Guide. Arrival in Rome, accommodation, dinner and overnight in hotel.
9th day: ROME
After breakfast, visit of Vatican City with Vatican Museums. In the afternoon walking through the monuments of Ancient Rome, like the Coliseum and the Roman Forum, and along Via del Corso, centre of the shopping, from Piazza Venezia as far as Piazza del Popolo passing through Trevi's Fountain and Spanish Steps. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight in hotel.
10° day: DEPARTURE
After breakfast, departure and end of our services.
